Young Thug is turning his leaked prison phone calls into powerful art. The Atlanta rapper, who was released from Fulton County Jail in late 2024, has addressed the controversy head-on with a new seven-minute track, “Man I Miss My Dogs,” released on Instagram and X. The song is a raw and honest look at his relationships and the state of hip-hop.
The track opens with an intimate apology to his partner, Mariah the Scientist, referencing months of speculation about their relationship. "Baby I’m sorry/One of my biggest fears is losing you to the internet,” he raps, a deeply personal moment that reasserts their bond.
But the scope quickly widens. Thug reaches out to Drake with an urgent plea for unity: “Trying to get you, Metro, and Pluto on the same page/The internet don’t know about it because real n****s don’t say.” This line shines a light on the rumored rifts among some of the genre's biggest names, positioning Drake at the center of a potential reconciliation effort.
The song also serves as a look at the shifting landscape of hip-hop, with a nod to rising stars like GloRilla. Her ascent during his legal battles underscores the new world he's re-entering. The track is both a plea for understanding and a powerful reminder of his lasting influence.
Other verses take aim at Lil Baby, who Thug implies has stopped answering his calls, and Gucci Mane, to whom he insists, “I’m not a rat/But that cheese where it’s at/All the n****s on the case that didn’t take pleas, that is that.”
“Man I Miss My Dogs” is a preview of Thug’s upcoming album, Uy Scuti, titled after one of the universe's largest stars. The project, led by the Future-assisted single “Money on Money,” signals his ambition to restore his standing and mend fractured bonds. By weaving apologies with sharp declarations, Young Thug is recasting his recent legal and personal turmoil as a public testimony. His comeback, much like the album’s name, is aimed at a cosmic scale.
