Actor and singer Tyrese Gibson has publicly addressed his recent arrest on animal cruelty charges, offering a detailed defense of his pet ownership and explaining the presence of several large Cane Corso dogs at his Atlanta home.

In a video posted to social media on October 7, the Fast & Furious star asserted that the dogs were acquired strictly out of necessity for personal safety and protection against ongoing harassment from stalkers, not as status symbols.

"Dogs as big as my Cane Corsos — I actually never wanted to get no Cane Corsos," Gibson, 46, stated. "I’ve just been dealing with stalkers."

Gibson, a Grammy-nominated artist, framed the situation as a serious misunderstanding, emphasizing his long history as an experienced dog owner. He recalled caring for various breeds over the years, including a Shar-Pei named Matrix, an English bulldog named King, and two Pomeranians, Angel and Dream.

The singer added a heartfelt plea for one of his smaller pets: "They haven’t released Dream. Free Dream. #FreeDream,” he said, noting tcation for the miniature Pomeranian, who remains in custody following the initial investigation.

The Role of Protection and Deterrence

Defending the presence of large, deep-barking dogs on his property, Gibson stressed their practical function as a deterrent. "When you have a family and some random person pulls up, you want some dogs to bark with some bass in it,” he explained. “They go, ‘Oh, they got dogs — let’s leave this house alone.’”

Gibson was arrested in early October and charged in Georgia with multiple counts of animal cruelty following reports of neglect concerning his Cane Corsos. While authorities have yet to release detailed findings, the entertainer’s comments provide context amid growing scrutiny.

"I’ve been dealing with stalkers and just trying to protect my home," he concluded.
