In a deeply candid conversation on Kirk Franklin’s Den of Kings podcast, actor Jonathan Majors opened up about his past struggles with suicidal ideation, mental health crises, and the unwavering support of his wife, Meagan Good.

The Creed III star revealed a dark period in his life where he was "on suicide watch," sharing the profound emotional and mental pain he experienced. Majors emotionally recounted the support of his then-fiancé, now wife, Meagan Good, stating, “There were times when… me and my girlfriend, me and my fiancé, and now me and my wife, we never spoke about it, but she never left me alone. I never let myself be alone.”

In a moment of profound vulnerability, Majors shared that he "bluntly" disclosed the depth of his despair to Good, admitting, “I told her I didn’t know if I wanted to be here anymore.”

Majors, who was joined on the podcast by Kevin Fredericks, NLE Choppa, Ray J, and Dr. Jay Barnett, connected his mental health battles to deeper, past traumas, acknowledging that recent life events like "getting arrested or losing a job" were often triggers, but "it was usually, I found for myself, it was something way, way, way, way back.”

He bravely detailed the severity of his past struggles: "I mean, drug overdose… Yep. Damn near lived on a roof, just plenty of—I don’t even smoke cigarettes—plenty of cigarettes and whiskey. I actually wrote a letter. I’ve done the whole thing and been there.”

The acclaimed actor also touched on the societal pressures facing Black men, suggesting that a challenging "narrative... puts us downhill," often compelling them to "pretend that you’re somebody that you’re not to get through certain doors that I got through.”

Majors was rightly commended for his "courage" in sharing such personal and difficult experiences. His decision to speak out is a powerful step in destigmatizing mental health issues, especially within the Black community and among public figures.
